11 Easy Steps to Create a Website In 2022
Step 1 - Go to Bluehost.com
Bluehost is a leading web hosting service with many features for it. Reliable, it offers amazing systems for capturing rich features, and most importantly, cheap dirt.
Click this link to go to the Bluehost website. When the web page opens, you will see a Start button. Click it.
Step 2 — Select a Web Hosting Plan
Create a Website In 2022 With Bluehost currently offers four hosting plans: Basic, Plus, Choice Plus, and Pro.
Under every plan, you’ll see a clearly drawn-out feature breakdown, along with the cost per month. An interesting thing to note here is the longer your commitment, the cheaper your plans are.
Since this is your first website, you’ll want the Basic plan. It has everything you need at an incredible price of $2.95 per month with a 36-month commitment. You can always upgrade your plan later as you start scaling your website.
Choose your hosting plan, and hit a Select.
Step 3 - Get Your Domain Name
Your domain name is the address of your website. For example, www.example.com
This is what your customers will write in their web browser to see your content. Exactly why it should be relevant, attractive, and reflect what you plan to do with your business as closely as possible.
You may encounter some challenges here.
First and foremost, your potential domain should be available. If you use common keywords and keywords, it is likely that the domain will be taken over by another business.
It is therefore best to choose different domain names.
Bluehost gives you two options when setting up your domain: Create a new domain and Use the wrong domain.
Under Create New Domain, you can search for available domains and decide on an extension. On the other hand, the Use your own domain option allows you to continue using your existing domain name (if you already own).
Don't worry too much. If you feel uncomfortable, you can always skip this step and create a background later.
Step 4 - Create Your Bluehost Hosting Account
Enter your personal information and payment information to complete the purchase of your Bluehost web hosting plan.
Fill in all the fields carefully to avoid mistakes.
Bluehost also gives you the option to purchase additional features and extensions to improve the performance of your website.
For all package extensions, we recommend that you purchase SiteLock Security - Essential. This supplement will improve the security of your website to keep cyber criminals and spammers out, and if you consider the security of your site we are talking about, paying $ 2.99 a month is a good thing.
Codeguard Basic is one of the best additions to getting your daily default website backups. This will ensure that you do not lose any progress. If you need to choose between the two, go with SiteLock Security.
And it's okay if you just want to stick to a catch-all program! No pressure.
Finally, add your payment information. Check the Terms and Conditions check box and press Submit.
Boom, you now have a brand new Bluehost account.
Step 5 — Install WordPress
Installing WordPress may sound complicated, especially if you do not have the experience of building a previous website. However, it is actually much easier with Bluehost.
Technically, you can install WordPress manually. But since Bluehost offers one installation - free - why go hard?
To get started, you must verify your Bluehost account.
Open the email you used to create a hosting account, and verify your credentials to access your customer profile. You will be redirected to your Bluehost account if you click the link in the email.
Click on My Sites in the sidebar bar, followed by the Create Site button.
Enter your new website name and username and password you want to use to manage your WordPress site. There may be some details that you need to complete, but it will be easier to answer.
Bluehost will also suggest a few free WordPress plugins that you can install in this section. We recommend navigation and flow as most of them do wonders to enhance your website skills.
Are you done with everything? Select Next.
Congratulations! Successfully installed WordPress with Bluehost.
Step 6 - Set Up Your WordPress Website
That’s when things will get more detailed, so be prepared! Take a 10-minute break, add water, and concentrate.
Log in to your WordPress account. You will see the main WordPress Website interface in all its glory.
Browse through all the tabs and section of the WordPress menu bar carefully to familiarize yourself with WordPress UX. Most of them describe themselves, such as posts, media, pages, comments, and settings.
Our focus here is on fine tuning the basic settings to improve your experience over time. Here are three things you should do immediately to get started:
1. Complete Your Website Title and Tag Line
Click on the Settings tab in the WordPress black menu bar on the left side of the screen, followed by General. Type your Site Title and Purchase Line in the appropriate fields.
Adding a tag line is optional. If you do not have a tag line for your website, you can leave it blank. You can also change or update these later.
2. Set Up Your Website Links
For those of you who don't know me, permalinks describe what the addresses of each web page or URLs of your website will look like.
You want to choose the URL structure that is most optimized for SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) purposes - not to mention, and it looks better in terms of quality.
Think about it: which do you prefer, yourdomainname.com/about or yourdomainname.com/2018/aboutp?
To do this, go to Settings, followed by Permalinks from the WordPress sidebar. You see a list of options on your screen. Check the post name field.
3. Make Your WordPress Website Public
You must make your website public if you want Google to get a guide to your website.
To do this, go to Settings and click Read. Uncheck search engines that say Disable to index this site option under the Search Engine Visibility field (or make sure it has not been checked).
Step 7 - Select and install the WordPress theme
WordPress themes determine the look of your website. And while you can change themes, you want to focus on choosing your website theme. Once your site is fully operational, it may be very difficult to change the themes and ensure that all content is copied correctly.
Currently, you have default themes. But with just a few clicks, you can give your site a unique look and feel.
Open the official directory of WordPress.org.
You will find tons of free and premium themes to browse. Additionally, you can check out third-party websites like ThemeIsle and a Themes if you want more options.
If your favorite theme is found in the official WordPress.org directory, you can install it directly by following the instructions below.
In the main WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance, followed by Theme. Select Add New at the top.
If you know the name of the theme you want to add, enter the name (we selected the “Hestia”) in the search bar, and then click Enter under the desired theme.
After the installation process is complete, click Activate to fully enable your website. This button will automatically appear instead of the Insert button after performing the installation.
The process will be slightly different if you want to download and install a premium theme.
Follow the instructions to download your theme. Usually, files are downloaded in .zip file format. Save it to your desktop.
Return to your WordPress dashboard, then click Appearance, and Themes. Select Upload on Themes.
Click Upload Theme. This will open down the file input options. Click Browse… and select the .zip file you just downloaded. Click Install Now.
Step 8 - Select and install the appropriate WordPress plugins
If the themes make your website look better, the plugins make it work better.
As mentioned earlier, Bluehost automatically integrates WordPress plugins, such as Akismet Anti-Spam, Google Analytics, Jetpack, OptinMonster API, and WP Forms Lite. You can also install additional plugins based on your needs.
At the same time, you do not want to go beyond downloading plugins. Too much will slow down your website — something you want to avoid at all costs!
Consider your needs as you browse plugins. You may want help with SEO or contact form or social media sharing buttons - there are plugins for almost everything. And remember, you can add more plugins later as you build your site.
Here's how to download the plugin:
Go to your WordPress dashboard.
Click on Plugin, followed by Add New.
Type the name of the plugin you want to add to the search bar.
Click Install, and once the installation is complete, Renew.
The plugin has now been added to your WordPress site, and you will see it installed in your WordPress dashboard menu. Click the plugin to view and modify settings, add content, and more.
Step 9 - Create Your Website Pages
Pages are objects such as the homepage, About page, contact page, or portfolio page. You can also consider adding a Blog page to your website to attract visitors and help with SEO.
Here's how to add pages and post to your website:
Select the Bluehost menu within your WordPress dashboard.
Click Content, followed by Pages. Select Add New Page.
The whole campus is yours! You can write and do whatever you want.
Click Publish when done.
You can edit and update pages whenever you want, and add new pages at any time.
Step 10 - Improve Your Website Navigation
In this section, you have checked all the important functions.
The only thing left to do is to navigate your website to make your content more accessible to visitors. Also, it does not hurt to get brownie points and SERPs again!
Here's how to customize your menus and widgets.
1. Adjust Menu
The theme you choose will determine the number of options to choose from regarding your menu settings.
To open the menu panel, click Appearance and then the Menu menus next to the WordPress dashboard.
On the left side there are all the pages you can add to the menu, while the right side includes the menu layout and its settings. You can drag and drop menu items to rearrange them the way you want.
When you are done, click Save Menu to save the settings.
2. Adjust Widgets
Widgets are content protection that you can place in various locations around your website. To open the Widget page, go to Appearance in the main dashboard, and then click Widgets.
Here's what it should look like:
To add a widget, you will need to grab it from the left and drag and drop it to the location you selected on the right. Also, you have free control over how you design your website — just make sure you put things first in the customer’s perspective to get the best results.
Your site is not yet live, so you can preview the site and see what everything looks like, and keep adjusting the menus and widgets and changing themes until you are happy with the results.
The design and layout of your site is what takes up most of the process.
Step 11 - Introduce Your Website!
Bluehost automatically provides a "coming soon" page when you first install WordPress. It is a default setting designed to give you privacy while working on your website before displaying the end result.
Now that you have (finally) designed the website of your dreams, you can go ahead and launch it to make it come alive! Click the Submit button for your site in the Bluehost WordPress dashboard.
Your first website is now live and public!
The Next Steps
The first thing you want to do is stay tuned for your hard work alive. It looks amazing, doesn't it?
The following is a list of the best practices for improving your website traffic. One of the best ways to do this is to create blog posts and other marketing materials and publish them on your website.
This includes tons of steps: doing keyword research, applying best SEO practices, monitoring progress, building an email list… the list goes on.
Think of it as a continuous process in which you always aim to improve and grow at the top.
