Blog SEO is a practice for improving blog content, site design, and HTML code for search engines. Common tasks associated with blog SEO include page optimization, installing plugins, improving page load speed and internal links.
Why is Blog SEO Important?
SEO (Search Engines Optimization) are a very important source of traffic for blogs.
In fact, a recent survey of over 1000 bloggers found that SEO is their third most important source of traffic (just after email marketing).
Our blog is a living testimony to the power of SEO. Indeed, we get the right amount of traffic from Twitter, LinkedIn, email, and direct traffic. And added together, these resources make up most of our monthly traffic.
But Google sends more than 396,000 visitors a month.
Without a blog, the growth of our site would have been much slower.

Best Ways
Find One Keyword In Each Post
Every blog post you publish should be upgraded with a single keyword.
When you organize your posts with many different keywords, Google and other search engines get confused. They do not know what your content is really about.
But if you focus on one keyword, Google can easily understand that your post is about that one topic.
So your first step is to get a single keyword for your post.
If your blog is new, I recommend you focus on long-tail keywords at the beginning. This is because the terminals of the long tail are not very competitive.
For long-tail keywords, type a word in Google search ...
… And check the keywords suggested by Google under the search bar.
You can also use a nice little free tool called Community Response.
This tool generates a list of keywords based on a query that can improve your posts around.
(In addition to keyword research, this tool is excellent for coming up with content title ideas.)
Customize Your Blog Post
Now that you've got the long tail keyword, you want to upgrade your post with that term.
You do not have to enter a keyword a million times on your page. That is called "keyword insertion". Keyword stuffing is used to work later in the day. But it can do great damage and be good today.
Instead, you want to include your keyword in a few important places on your page.
Title and title tag
Most CMS (like WordPress) have a title field at the top of the post.
You also want to include your keyword in your blog post title and title page of your page.
For example, on this page from our site, we include the target keyword "SEO keywords" in the post title:
When it comes to blog SEO, your title tag is the most important of the two.
That's because Google puts extra weight on terms that appear on your page's title tag.
Certain WordPress themes and plugins automatically make your post a theme tag. But some do not. So you want to re-evaluate the HTML of your page to make sure your keyword ends in your title.
Categories of introduction and conclusion
You also want to mention your keyword in the introduction and conclusion of your blog post.
In my experience, placing your keyword in these two important areas helps a little with SEO on the page.
For example, I have published Copywriting: The Definitive Guide.
As you can see, I added my keyword ("copywriting") to my introduction ...
Subtitles H1, H2, and H3
Use your keyword in the subheading H1, H2 or H3.
Many WordPress themes automatically make your post theme H1.
But, like your title tag, you need to check the HTML of your page to be sure.
Apart from H1, add at least one subtitle to your post that contains the keyword.
For example, I added my keyword to this H2 subtitle:
These tips are the most important SEO practices you should keep in mind as you develop your blog content.
But they only build up. When it comes to on-page SEO, you can also improve your page's alt text, site speed, responsive design, mobile optimization, and more.
Set up SEO plugins
Wix. Square. Shopify. WordPress.
They all say they are “SEO friendly” out of the box.
But no matter how friendly each SEO is, it usually needs a little help in the form of an SEO plugins or extension.
Yoast SEO is the most popular SEO plugin for WordPress. But then there is it all in one SEO and RankMath.
And there are similar SEO plugins on almost every blogging platform out there.
The direct plugin doesn't care about all that. The important thing is to use the right types of SEO plugins for your blog.
Specifically, you want plugins to:
It helps you to improve your title and description tags: Thus, you can write SEO-optimized articles and meta descriptions.
Create a Sitemap: XML sitemap helps search engines find all your blog posts and pages
Make it easy to build an easy-to-use SEO site: For blogs, this means you can easily create index pages and posts that you don't want search engines to point to.
Press images for speed: Page speed will not make or break your levels. But fast-loading pages can give you little improvement.
If you already have those plugins in place, it's time to ...
Insert Your Blog In the Folder
If your blog is your site, you do not need to worry about this.
But what if you are a SaaS business? Or are you selling services?
Where do you put your blog?
Back in the day, people often put their blogs in sub-domains, as follows:
blog.example.com
As it turns out, the domains below are not very SEO-friendly.
Instead, you want to put your blog in a subfolder, like this.
example.com/blog
In fact, that’s what we do at Backlinko.
In fact, John Doherty has moved his client's blog from a subdomain to a subfolder. And it helped to increase their organic traffic by 98%.
Use Evergreen URLs
Blog URLs may be too long.
And, as it turns out, long URLs are not good for SEO.
We detected a link between the short URLs and Google's high ratings.
That is why I recommend short URLs, customized for all
Google often captures text for blog posts and articles for use in Featured Captions. And considering that the best blogs publish articles, Improved Snippet Feature should be a part of any blog SEO program.
To access the Featured Captions, you must first find out what kind of Featured Captions you intend.
If you want to rate "Definition Snippet", be sure to include a description that Google can use in your post.
Here is an example:
Another common type of Featured Snippet is "List Snippet".
The best way to prepare for this is to use multiple headers in your post.
For example, our content is currently in the category of featured captions.
Everything Google puts on this list appears in the title of the post.
Reduce Your Bumping Level
Whether Bounce Rate is a feature of Google's rating should be debated.
That means:
A number of field studies have found a correlation between jumping rates and levels.
Does the relationship mean a cause? No.
At the highest level, the best way to reduce the downtime of your site is to publish content that gives Google searchers what they want.
(In other words: content that satisfies the purpose of the search.)
When someone comes to your post and says: “Good! This is exactly what I want ”, they will stick and read your stuff.
But if your post does not fit well, they will jump.
And if enough people jump, Google will recognize you and downgrade you.
Other than that, I recommend that you focus on building your blog.
Users make a second decision to stay or leave your blog. And if your blog looks very professional, there is a good chance it will continue to exist.
In fact, when I look at our Google Analytics data, I realize that our expertly designed guides tend to have a lower jump rate than regular posts.
Publish Content Designed to Create a Link
At this point, your blog is geared towards SEO success.
That means:
Your blog can have amazing, world-class content. And you can use all the techniques to improve the search engine in the world.
But for your blog to be ranked on Google, you need to build backlinks. And many of them.
Fortunately, because you are using a blog, your site is set up to receive links. After all, you always publish high-quality content. The exact type of content some bloggers want to link to.
And if your main goal in content marketing is to get more links to your blog, then I recommend focusing on
900+ post reviews have found that certain types of content have received excessive links.
That doesn't mean you have to publish ONLY why posts and infographics. But when it comes to building links, these formats tend to do very well.
